Mariza, "Ô Gente da Minha Terra" (Amália Rodrigues)

I was there that night, 6th September 2005, near the Torre de Belem. This was an electrifying, spine-tingling final song, an unforgettable performance as this simple, modest girl who lives to sing fado struggled against her own emotions to deliver this powerful fado to a "home" audience of 15,000 Lisboetas and was carried through by them and the guitarist. Pure, magical joy. What a night...

Very powerful song & performance by Marissa..So touching that it made wishful of my own "terra natal".I love Lisbon but i never feel i belong and im here because my hands are tied ( for better or for worse) There´s really no place like home..
Thanks for sharing this video,I live so near Torre de Belem and i never get to watch this concert, i would have enjoyed it for sure.
Where there´s a will, there´s a way"

Aurora, shame on you for missing it! There were posters all over the city for a few weeks before. And haven't you seen the concert on RTP2, that was shown on 1st January & then again 4 or 5 weeks ago? She is now doing a tour with the orchestra in pefect castle locations, like Palmela and Óbidos. If I could, I would go to all of them!
Vais ler...

I love Mariza - have two of her CD's. It's so wonderful that the next generation is continuing this wonderful musical tradition. She is supposed to perform here in New Jersey in the fall; we'll be sure to get tickets to see her.
